Since 1963, Harbin China has hosted the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival.  Except for a 22 year break during the Cultural Revolution, the Festival begins around the 5th of January and last for the month of January.  It has two main features, the Snow Sculptures at the Sun Land Recreational area, and the Snow and Ice World that starts up each night.

Ice blocks are carved from the Songhua River and then chiseled and sawed into magnificent sculptures by the different artists that enter the competitions.  The sculptures are then illuminated either with lanterns or lights for the nightly exhibition.  The exhibit becomes a wonder of colored lights and ice and snow sculptures illuminating the city.  Tour companies put together packages for this wonderful festival so that you can fully enjoy the beauty of it.  You can also find pictures of the festival on different websites.

We hope you enjoyed looking at the beautiful pictures of the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival.  We are happy to share our culture with you!
